It’s early. The bikes are ready, and 120 riders from all over the country have shown up for a joint training session. On the programme: 120 kilometres in the legs – one of many training weekends ahead of this summer’s trip to the Alps.
One of them is Heini Vogn. By day he is a project manager in the construction industry, and he is also part of a large community training towards a shared summer goal.
Heini explains why he joined Cykelnerven:
“It’s great motivation. It’s about fundraising for a good cause, about getting in shape, about systematic training – and there’s a great sense of community. You get to know a lot of new people.”
It’s the first time Heini is riding for Cykelnerven, but he’s already well into the rhythm: “It’s a wonderful experience to cycle with people who are passionate about the same thing. Both the cycling itself and what we’re cycling for.”
Cykelnerven is first and foremost a fundraising project – built around cycling, but with one clear purpose: to raise money for multiple sclerosis research.
The money comes in through many channels: sponsorships, events and ambassadors across the country. One of the most popular is “The year’s most important dinners”, where riders like Heini open their homes to paying guests. Rema 1000 provides the ingredients, well-known chefs supply the recipes, and all proceeds go directly to the association. Heini has hosted two dinners himself, with great success.
Multiple sclerosis is a disease that affects many people closely – more than you might think. And although research has come a long way, the field has stood in the shadow of other diseases.
Last year Cykelnerven raised DKK 15 million. Money that goes directly to research – and hopefully, in time, to the answers we don’t yet have.
Heini is a long-standing Nobly customer and a relationship we’ve maintained over the years. When the opportunity arose to support his trip to the Alps, it was an easy decision.
For us, it’s about backing a person we care about and a cause that makes a real difference.
We’re following Heini all the way to the top!
