How do you find your way into IT? For Maria, it started with creativity and a curiosity about the digital world. For Louise, it began with the realisation that almost everything in a company is shaped by IT. Their paths into the industry are different – but today they both work at the intersection of technology and business at Nobly.
Maria chose Information Science because it felt like a “soft” IT degree.
”It made the technical side less intimidating – and gave me an understanding of IT without having to be a specialist.”
— Maria, Brand & Digital Marketing Specialist, Nobly
Louise took a different route. She started on a communications programme but missed something more concrete and hands-on.
”I wanted to work closer to processes and use technology to optimise and create value.”
— Louise, IT Project Manager, Nobly
Both ended up on the master’s programme in IT, Communication & Organisation – and that’s where they found their direction.
Today Maria works as Brand & Digital Marketing Specialist, developing Nobly’s brand and digital solutions. Louise works as IT Project Manager, translating business needs into concrete IT solutions in collaboration with both customers and developers.
What they have in common is that they act as a bridge between tech and business. “Turning needs into solutions can make a real difference and free up time for more meaningful work,” Louise says.
Both point out that many people have too narrow a view of what IT is. “IT isn’t just for those who want to code. It spans broadly – from design and communication to strategy and project management,” says Maria.
And the opportunities are only growing: “In 10 years, you might be working with something that doesn’t even exist today,” Louise concludes.
As part of the Danish IT industry’s #MinVejTilIT (My Way Into IT) campaign, Maria and Louise share their full stories about how they found their way into IT and their advice for others considering an IT education.
